A Russian television journalist was found strangled in his Moscow apartment on Friday. Police say the body of Ilyas Shurpayev was found by firefighters when they arrived to put out a fire in his apartment. Shurpayev was strangled with a belt and his attackers set his apartment on fire. For several years he worked as a reporter with state-controlled Channel One television and reported from many conflict zones in the former Soviet Union. Also killed Friday was journalist Gaji Abashilova. He was shot while walking on the street in Dagestan.
