The Hoover SteamVac All Terrain is a great cleaning tool. It washes and cleans carpeting and hard floors. It also comes equipped with an eight foot hose and SpinScrub power brush for cleaning tough stains and upholstery.

The performance of the Hoover SteamVac on carpets was excellent. We tested it on old and new stains. The old stains came out for the most part, but some very old stains had made the color of the carpet fade. In a situation like this, no cleaner would work. The Hoover carpet cleaner was wonderful on new spills. We tested it by pouring a cup of milk onto the carpet. The Hoover All Terrain sucked up this spill, washed out any residue left over, and left the carpeting cleaner than it was before the spill.

We also were impressed with how dry the carpet was after a cleaning. We released the detergent and warm water as we went over the carpet on the first pass. We went over the carpet two more times without releasing any cleaner so we could suck up the detergent and dirty water after the SpinScrub brush cleaned it up. The carpet was just a little damp, and very clean.

For hard flooring, the All Terrain washed the floor nicely, but doesn't suck up the water very effectively. You have to work slowly as you clean tile, linoleum, or wood floors.

The upper tank of the Hoover SteamVac is where the Carpet cleaner detergent and the warm water is added. The All Terrain Hoover automatically mixes the two when you pull the trigger to release the cleaning mix. The lower tank is where dirty liquid is stored. Each tank holds one gallon of liquid.

Another nice feature of the Hoover All Terrain vac is the hose and SpinScrub power brush. This cleans up stains and smudges on couches, chairs, stairs, and much more. It does drip a little liquid even when you aren't spraying detergent.

If you want a Hoover SteamVac just for carpeting, use the Hoover DualV. It's the same model as the All Terrain, but without the hard floor brush and squeegee attachment.
