I I feel like it goes without saying that Kill La Kill was one of tthe best and controversial anime to come out in the last few years. Nudity and scantily clad women are nothing new to the genre but when it's paired with excellent writing, action and an overall excellence that the industry starts taking seriously, people start to notice and then question themselves for liking what others may consider to be smut.
On other side of the coin you have an equally excellent albeit at times cliche anime known the world over as Gurren Lagann, an Anime that found a way to become my favorite anime after one binge watching session. It's anime that does a similar thing with fan service, being that it takes extreme notice of the female form via Yoko but the bulk the shows greatness comes from character interaction and a strong story telling aesthetic. Gurren Lagann deserves all the praise it gets but when you think about it, its a very typical story with very predictable plot points so although it is very pleasing that doesn't mean it's actually the best.
So today I bring to you an anime comparison of epic proportions of two anime created by most of the same people (Gainax and Trigger) with very different points to make. Trust me, this one was hard because I loved both of these shows more than I expected and found it difficult to remain objective.
However after some time I came to a conclusion that might surprise and upset you. Let me know your thoughts after watching today's feature film.
