Thursday, November 8th, 2018 - Suffolk County Legislator Kara Hahn has joined with the East Setauket Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3054, the Setauket American Legion Irving Hart Post #1766, the Stony Brook American Legion Post 417 and the American Legion Wilson Ritch Post 432 to create the Veterans Memorial Fund Committee in order to update memorials in Stony Brook, Setauket and Port Jefferson. The memorials- in Stony Brook Village, on the Setauket Village Green, at the Setauket Veterans Memorial Park and in the Port Jefferson Memorial Park- are beautiful dedications to those who made the ultimate sacrifice and need updates to reflect service members lost in recent decades. The Committee has met several times and after many discussions have decided to add to each location remembrances for the Cold War, the Gulf Wars and the Global War on Terror.

The Veterans Memorial Fund is seeking financial donations, in-kind services and sponsors from the community to support this important project. As a sponsor, you will help raise money to improve the community’s memorials dedicated to our veterans and support this vital local project. All donations can be made out to the Veterans Memorial Fund and sent to P.O. Box 986, Port Jefferson, NY 11776. All donations made to the Veterans Memorial Fund are tax-deductible. With support from the community, we hope to ensure that all veterans feel represented and acknowledged for their service at each and every local community memorial.
