St. James Council's 4949 Wheelchair project raised funds in the amount of $7,185.00,to be able to purchase 47 wheelchairs.
Grand Knight Guenter A. Rieger said we started the Wheelchair project, just once month before the end of the fraternal year 2011-2012.
Thanks to the generous support of our Knights and parishioners of St. James Church, we were able to raise in total $7,185.00, to be able to purchase 47 wheelchairs, providing mobility. to 47 people in need."
Grand Knight Guenter A. Rieger was overwhelmed with the generous response and also very pleased, with the outcome, since this was the last project during his terms, which ends on June 30th,2012.
He said, "I'm confident that our Council will continue the good work which was demonstrated since April of 1960, when our Council received the charter.
St. James Council has a reputable history in Vernon. We're strong supporters of St. James Church, St. James School and our community at large.
We, the Knights of Columbus, have built the Schubert Centre, Gateby and Columbus Court, which is serving seniors of Vernon very well.
I was humbled to serve St. James Council 4949 as Grand Knight for two terms (2010-2012)
A big thanks to all Knights of St. James Council 4949 and parishioners of St. James Church for their kind donations, and their support for the Knights of Columbus during the last two years, and the years to come.
I would also like to mention our Chaplain and priest of St. James Church Father Dale Normandeau who is supporting the Knights of Columbus in every way he can.
Father Dale shortened his homely during Sunday mass, May 27,2012 to allow me, on behalf of St. James Council 4949, to able to make the Wheelchair presentation to our parishioners, which was very much appreciated. Thank you, Father Dale."
