Dr. Todd Fladen of The Fladen Eye Center demonstrates the handling of a dropped nucleus during phacoemulsification in a patient who previously underwent Retinal Detachment repair twice with Silicone Oil used the second time. The silicone oil was removed prior to cataract surgery and likely the posterior capsule was injured centrally during the silicone removal.
After cortical cleanup, a 3 piece B&L IOL LI61AO was implanted centrally with the optic in the bag and the hap tics in the sulcus.
