Akron, OH - January 14, 2012 - A group of local Summit County residents gathered in Montrose on Saturday to show support for presidential candidate Ron Paul, and raised awareness for the principles of individual liberty and Constitutional freedom.

The group, called Summit County for Ron Paul, is a local grassroots organization, comprised of 56 members to date, committed to community outreach and education.

Unaffiliated with the official campaign, they are all local residents who regularly volunteer their time and money towards their objective of helping to restore America to its Constitutional roots.

"We came out to brave the elements as volunteers, because there's no greater cause than the cause of freedom", said Michael Wigle, who has traveled to Iowa to campaign for Ron Paul with Youth for Paul, and will travel next to Nevada, then to California, where he has pledged to be a delegate.

Phil Weeks said, "Liberty is great -- and worth fighting for, living for, and dying for".

A group of 8 of their members stood braving the cold & snow to hold signs at different corners of Route 18 & Cleveland-Massillon Road for about 3 hours, and got a lot of "honks for Paul", as well as people smiling and waving as they passed. They passed out bumper stickers to cars that were stopped at the lights, and handed out literature to drivers who pulled into the parking lot after seeing their show of support.

In addition to public awareness events, the group meets weekly to discuss current news & local strategy; canvasses Summit County neighborhoods door-to-door; and cooperates with other freedom-minded groups on a variety of state and local initiatives.
