This example is laser cutting 1/16" thick 5052 aluminum, using a special setting with oxygen as the assist gas for piercing, and nitrogen as the assist gas for cutting. Aluminum has high reflectivity and has a difficult time cutting if settings are not adjusted properly. There tends to be some dross on the bottom of the cut, but if the power and gas pressure are set correctly, the dross can be easily wiped off by hand.

The laser cutting machine is a Mazak X-48 Super Turbo Mk II 1,500 Watt, which can cut up to 1/8" thick aluminum.
