On Sunday, October 20th a group of indefatigable Fox Hunters gathered at a Beverly Hills home to begin the 2013 Fox Hunt for the Stirrup Cup. The Fox Hunt is a combination driving scavenger hunt/trivia contest. The fox is a plush fox toy named Freddy. There is no clock to beat so speed is not an issue. There are no points awarded for arriving first, participants are encouraged to observe all speed limits and rules of the road because we want a safe driving event. The fun is following the course and coming up with answers to some very original/creative questions. If you can't get the right answer, it's sometimes more fun to come up with the funniest answer. (Participants drive their cars along a scenic route following clues matching wits against other teams in their cars. The course this year was a spectacular 22 mile course that zig-zagged through Cheviot Hills, Beverly Hills, onto Sunset Blvd and then on to Bel Air, Westwood Village, Brentwood and ending at our surprise trattoria location for lunch. No one got lost and all arrived in about 2 hours at the final destination the Amici Brentwood Restaurant in Santa Monica. Along the way we passed the homes of Jack Benny, Lucille Ball and Jimmy Stewart in Beverly Hills. We saw the Playboy Mansion (no, none of the gentlemen dropped in) and the Aaron Spelling estate that sold in 2011 for a reported 85 million dollars. The owners of Amici Brentwood could not have been more accommodating. The ambiance was delightful and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the camaraderie that had developed from the hunt. The room was abuzz with lively conversation and the presentation of the funniest answers to some of the questions. Here are a few of the questions on the list: Q: What sound does a store make? A: Aahs (the name of the store) Q: What is the Bela Lugosi Vineyard? A: Vampire Wines (also the name of the store) Q: What exclusive club was passed on the Hunt? A: The Beverly Hills Mutt Club Ken Johnson and his coterie answered the most questions correctly and Ken was very excited to be installed as the Hunt Master for the 2014 Fox Hunt. Enjoy the video and join us next year for a very fun event! Maybe you will come up with the funniest answers to the trivia questions!
