What a beautiful video

I am a former news reporter, wore a long brown weave so that I fit the type. I've always been natural underneath and now that I'm a writer, and I am free and natural. Just wanted to say that this is an excellent news report. Often, as reporters we have to water stories down for the sake of time and commercialization but I think this reporter did an excellent job of delving into the Black hair industry and the politics of hair. Kudos!
This is so awesome. My children's book, I'm Proud to Be Natural Me! echoes this same message that "we are ALL beautiful as is." So impressed and inspired. I would love to send an autographed copy of my book to the beautiful little girl in this video! Kudos to Rochelle Ritchie. :)

Extreme racial inferiority complex is extreme.
$9 Billion on hair...unfathomable. Imagine if we took that money and started business for ourselves and invested in our own communities instead of others'....

I believe from observed observation that most of African American women prefer straight hair because they have a sense of self hatred which has been passed on ever since slavery. that self-hatred has been passed on or passed down rather from generation 2 generation and little girls are taught from a very early age that if their hair is not straight then they are inferior to white people's sense of Beauty... As an Afro American man I want all people to feel comfortable with themselves don't try to be like me and I won't try to be like you it's called being yourself that's why God made so many of us in so many ways with so many differences sisters your hair is nappy and that makes God happy if it didn't make God happy he would not have done it that way.
Video says, "new trend". This is far from NEW, since we were wearing our hair natural YEARS ago.  MANY women I know have NEVER had a relaxer, NEVER had weaves or wore wigs. Some are professionals in education, medicine, corporate America. BUT, I know, or FEEL, straight hair has always been preferred, by the powers that be, when it comes to the news, movies.......almost anything visual. MOST of our Black female entertainers are seen with locks down their backs. LOL. GREAT video ! ! LOVED it ! !
We have to teach young girls of color to love themselves. Your hair does not make you beautiful. I saw a mother with her two daughters and they all had their natural manes blowing in the wind. I loved it.

Comon women. Your hair is beautiful curly. Just let it grow long. Just go curly and dont care ;)

They didn't have to cut it all off. They could go natural and keep most of their hair.
