From July 26--30 SECCA wais pleased to partner with Authoring Action and intermedia artist Freya Björg Olafson to present the exciting Inside Out Classroom See and Be Scene. The vast social network of blogging, posting, tweeting, video snacking, and status updates has forever changed how individuals organize and project their identity to the world. During this week-long workshop Olafson did guide students from Authoring Action in an exploration of identity in the 21st century. Through writing, performative actions, media sampling, and other exercises, students explored what it means to see and be seen at the intersection of virtual, social and physical realities. In the process, they can better learn how to harness the potential of new media and social networks for creative expression. Ultimately the students developed their own "Avatar" charachters, and created "how to" videos as those Avatars.
