Are you interested in volunteering? Or have you ever wondered how you can change and help education? Perhaps you have a child and you want to play more of a part in their schooling; or maybe you want to find a way to give something back to your community?
Every school in the UK has a governing body which is responsible for its strategic management. This involves setting aims and objectives; allocating budgets; appointing senior members of staff and monitoring the school's progress. School governors ensure that schools are accountable to the public they serve and help them move forward at a time when they are encouraged to be autonomous.
Governors are the people from every type of background helping education in different ways; the people that have a passion for making a change in their local community; the people who are the "unsung heroes of the education system".
"We're the people..."
SGOSS is the school governor recruitment charity. Our vision is for every school to have a diverse and effective governing body driving school improvement.
