Battle of Nuremberg.
One of the greatest match ever played in a World Cup.
A record number of Cards were issued in this match, The Refree flashed 16 yellows & 4 red cards(A record which cannot be beaten) in a World Cup Match.
The match played in Round 2 of the 2006 FIFA World Cup between Portugal and the Netherlands at the Frankenstadion in Nuremberg on 25 June 2006.
Russian referee Valentin Ivanov officiated the match & arguably give the performance of his life to make this match a very very memorable one & arguably The Greatest Ever match in the World Cup History.
The match though ended 1-0 to Portugal with Maniche scoring in the 23rd minute.
In the aftermath of the match, Referee Ivanov was criticised by FIFA president Sepp Blatter, who has suggested that Ivanov should have given himself a yellow card for his poor performance during the match.
