Tip number 1 for hair loss is to add omega-3 fatty acids to your daily diet. Whether you are in taking your omegas through vegetarian sources such as flaxseed oil, or other sources such as fish oils, it is really important for hair loss that you are feeding your body with those omega 3’s. The first deficiency symptom of omega-3 is hair loss. This is common after having a baby as well because of the loss of the omega-3s and that essential fatty acid deficiency.
Tip number 2 is to make sure you have sufficient amounts of iron. A symptom of an iron deficiency is hair loss, so to prevent this it is best to make sure you are getting enough iron in your diet, some sources include prunes, dates, blackstrap molasses, and chocolate all contain iron. Also, you can always supplement with a whole food iron vitamin for an added boost. Another tip is to make sure your thyroid is working properly. One of the symptoms of low thyroid is hair loss. Therefore, you want to be sure you are boosting and supporting your thyroid gland.
Tip number 3 for stopping hair loss naturally is protein, make sure your diet has enough protein; a deficiency can result in hair loss as a symptom.
Tip number 4 is stress; manage your stress levels efficiently, your hair will literally fall out in times of stress. It is important to manage your stress in a healthy way such as deep breathing, yoga, exercise, meditations are great ways to help reduce and manage stress. Watch your DHEA levels as well as your cortisol levels and bring down your stress levels!
Tip number 5 is a concoction, an at home remedy you can apply to your hair to help with hair loss and promote hair growth.
Hair Loss Recipe
Mix together the following:
1-2 TBS of coconut oil (liquid is best and easy to work with)
1 TBS hexane free organic castor oil
1 TBS sweet almond oil
2 capsules of Vitamin E 400 IU
Apply to the scalp and massage 2-4 times per week at bedtime, leave on overnight, gently brush in the morning with a wide toothcomb to evenly distribute the oil through out your hair and then wash out using your shampoo and conditioner of choice.
