CINCINNATI (Brad Underwood) -- An Over-The-Rhine bar and the musical community are coming together to help a local musician after all of his instruments were stolen from his home. Justin Todhunter plays in two local bluegrass bands, Jake Speed and the Freddies and the Rattlesnakin' Daddies. Todhunter mainly plays the mandolin, but uses various guitars in both bands. It's an organic, genuine style of music that people relate to , it's timeless really, said Todhunter. Todhunter says he came home on December 27th to find his back door busted in and possessions gone. First thing I noticed was the television, I keep my computer in the living room, it was gone, I keep my instruments in the living room, they were gone, said Todhunter. A total of six instruments were stolen: 1985 Kentucky KM-1000 Mandolin, 2008 Eastman MD 815 Mandolin (Red finish), 2005 Martin OOO-M Acoustic Guitar, 2000 Blue Fender Stratocaster (Mexican) ,1949 National 1088 Triplex Lap Steel, 2009 Douglas (Hofner copy) Bass The Eastman is the one I play nightly, I want that one back, I want them all back, said Todhunter. Since the robbery, Todhunter says support has been overwhelming. Friends and even strangers have offered to lend him instruments until his are found or he buys new ones. On January 13th, MOTR in Over-The-Rhine will host a benefit for Todhunter, both of his bands will be playing. I've never been a front man in a band, I'm not a celebrity so, for people to care this much it means a lot to me and I just want to thank everybody, said Todhunter. Todhunter lives in Westwood and says he's passed out fliers with pictures of the instruments to area pawn shops, but so far none have turned up. If you see the instruments, you can contact Todhunter through Facebook.
