After a calm dominating the placid waters of L.I. Sound, a gentle breeze sprung up from the South East. It steadied to 5 kts giving perfect sailing conditions in smooth waters for Carrianne my 18'sprit rigged skiff. We were whisked along on a close reach from the mouth of the Farm river E. Haven eastward to sail the waters off Indian neck and the Branford river. Gybing A broad reach took us past the Mermaid then to round Johnson's Point. to squeeze between House or Umbrella island and the myriad of rocks to starboard. A poke into the Short Beach waters a tack and back in the now slightly stirred waters of Long Island Sound. Not going any where in a hurry I just reached back and forth off the Farm river before sailing back for my dock to savor the memory of this delightful afternoon sail of 11.5 NM. This video will sustain me during the long winter months.
