Neighbors were on edge as police investigated a broad daylight murder on Iseminger Street in South Philadelphia Wednesday afternoon. A 50-year-old man was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital after he was shot multiple times -- but as pronounced dead a short time later.
Several Philadelphia news organizations say that sources are characterizing the murder as a possible mob hit.
At the same time, seven alleged mob figures are on trial in Philadelphia, facing racketeering charges.
Police searched a vehicle in another section of South Philadlephia, similar in appearance to a getaway car described by witnesses.
One man was taken into custody while police and FBI investigators searched his home.
Joe Kaczmarek covered the scene for the GunCrisis Reporting Project.
