The upcoming documentary about the Kibera Walls for Peace youth arts project follows kids in one of Africa's largest slums in Nairobi, Kenya as they work with Brooklyn-based artist Joel Bergner (www.joelsmurals.com) to create public art encouraging their country to be peaceful during the upcoming election and to avoid the widespread violence that erupted after the last election. The youth are from the educational organization Kibera Hamlets, and through the project they study issues of peace-building, tribalism and political corruption and become agents of change in their country. The documentary is being directed by Nairobi filmmaker Willie Owusu, who worked with Mathew Kigen and Evans Kamau. A Big Ideas production. Project blog: kiberawallsforpeace.tumblr.com
