One of the most captivating traditions at spiritual level in South American and other cultures, is the tradition of religious processions during the Holy Week.
From the top, watching this long line of bright candles, one approaches a dimension that is different from our usual reality. From inside, following the steps of the procession, one can feel in the air the deep credence of the believers, a kind of thin and at the same time dense atmosphere...the energy of the true faith. The beauty of the ladainhas where the image of the Lord or of the Virgin Mary, carried on their shoulders by men praying in deep silence, stops to bless the chosen families. Under the look of the Virgin Mary in his deathbed, waiting for his Ascension in the presence of the Lord, everyone listens to a repeated prayer...never-ending, without space or time.
At the end, the bright candles continue their way, the believers set off again to the house of God, where the sad look of the Virgin Mary will watch her beloved Son up to his Resurrection.
I remember this image and through Fides et Laudes I go along the moments of this experience that I have lived personally and that I will never forget.
