A Nippers video visit to Cafe Del Sol. Cafe del Sol has a rich history in Montecito originally being located next to Pierre La Fond in Upper Montecito Village, but moved years ago to 30, Los Patos Way at the Bird Refuge. Owners Jack & Emily Sears continues the tradition of serving excellent Mexican food but so much more. The Margaritas, especially made with Chinaco are arguably some of the best in town. And the service from manager Alfredo and his team is first class.

The outdoor patio overlooking the bird refuge is the "e" ticket for a sunny lunch or sunset cocktail and the bar always offers some lively conversation. The menu is extensive with chile rellanos, cheese enchiladas and many Mexican specialities along with salads and more traditional fare like braised lamb shanks, Montecito pepper steak, pasta and even abalone.

Starting with some fresh guacamole and chips along with a selection of salsas - ask for the spicy chipolte, also.

Chile Rellano is a star in the Mexican plate along with Mexican rice and black beans. And the Canlis salad is an authentic take on the Washington legend. The flavors are excellent and the tradition of a true Santa Barbara success story is something to be savored.
