The goal of this exercise is to show you how to share your work iBooks Author with a friend.
In order to complete this tutorial, you will need iBooks author installed on the computer you are working with, and an email address. You will need the email address because iBooks Author's sharing system functions largely, though not entirely, through email.
First, load your project on iBooks author. Then, on the Apple menu bar, select "Share." There, you will see two options: Send via email, and export. Within the Send via email option, there are three other options: iBooks Author for Mac, iBooks for iPad, and PDF. Depending on how you want to send the file, you can choose any of these. Whichever you choose -- we'll choose iBooks Author for Mac here -- you will be brought to an email window. Note that sending the file for iBooks Author for Mac or iBooks for iPad will call for creating a significantly larger file than PDF. Choose Proceed upon being warned of this. The file will already be attached, and you'll just need to enter your friend's name, a subject, and send it off.
You can also choose to simply export the file on your computer, and then share it with a friend by other means. Through this option, you can export the file as an iBooks file for the iPad, as a PDF, or as a text file. Simply choose whichever option you prefer, click next, choose where you'd like to save the file, and click export. It will export very quickly to wherever you save it. From there, you can transfer it to a friend's computer with an external hard drive, flash drive, by uploading it online, or in whichever way proves most convenient to you.
Now you know how to share your iBooks Author file.
