The Jing-Zhang high-speed railway made its maiden voyage on Dec 30, 2019. It’ll provide transportation for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. At 8:40 am, the G2505 left the station on time as the first high-speed train from Beijing to Zhangjiakou. The Jing-Zhang high-speed railway is 173.947 kilometers long. It’ll cut the train-travel time between Beijing and Zhangjiakou from three hours and seven minutes to around one hour. The Jing-Zhang high-speed railway will use the Beidou Navigation Satellite System, which is independently constructed and operated by China. It’s expected to reach 350 km per hour and use an automated operating system.
