Citizens of the Mueller community of Austin, Texas may hold the keys to our future smart grid. They have volunteered to participate in research being conducted by Pecan Street Inc., an energy R&D organization headquartered at The University of Texas at Austin. Their homes and businesses are test beds where tomorrow's smart grid technology is being implemented and studied today. As part of the project, Intel-based servers in the Texas Advanced Computer Center analyze huge amounts of data from each building charting usage patterns onto the world's highest resolution visualization screens.
