Ethnic Albanian Catholics from all over Kosovo and from Croatia gathered on Sunday outside the St Letnica Catholic church in the Kosovar town of Letnica.
The two-thousand-strong congregation took part in a Mass outside the church to remember the ethnic Albanian victims of the Kosovo conflict and to pray for peace and reconciliation in the war torn province.
SOUNDBITE: (Albanian) "We have to forgive everything that has happened in Kosovo. We have to pray for the people we have lost. And we have to pray for all the souls of our country." SUPER CAPTION: Mark Sopi, Albanian priest
It was the first time in ten years that ethnic Albanian Catholics have gathered from different parts of the province at the famous church in Letnica.
The sentiment was clear: that these particular Kosovars hope their faith will help them to rebuild their shattered lives.
SOUNDBITE: (English) "It's very very important for us to feel that we are part of the world, part of Europe. We have to all believe in God and loving him." SUPER CAPTION: Greta Kaqinari, Professor from Pristina
The service was held on the Catholic Holy Day of the Virgin Mary.
