This is our final year student project in our Computer Science - Games Technology double degree program in Murdoch University.

This video only shows the facial animation aspects of our project and it does not represent the whole project. The 3D model is modeled after our project supervisor, Mr. Shri Rai.

The main idea of this project is about helping people with hearing disabilities to be able to speak through the use of computer systems, visual avatars (3D model and animation) and graphic displays. The outcome of this project is software that can contribute to the building block or platform for achieving this aim.

Our client for this project is Murdoch University's Executive Dean of Division of Arts, Prof. Arnold Depickere. His dream is to create an application that can show and simulate human speech and how voice is created by using graphic displays, computer systems, and 3D animation.

Currently we have only implemented a Lip Reading Tutor using a 3D animated avatar. In this functionality, the user can observe a the avatar and have it pronounce a few words. There are two modes in this application, one is the Student mode, the other is Tutor / Teacher mode. In theacher mode, the user can create new facial & speech animation easily just by adjusting a few slider bars.
