Sept 11, 2011. The midway point of the 1.5 hr ferry journey between Swartz Bay (Victoria) and Tsawwassen (Vancouver) is a narrow passage called Active Pass, the barrier of the southern Gulf Islands and the open waters of the Strait of Georgia. Without fail you will always pass a ferry or two when crossing through the pass. Hence, why it's so active!

Galiano Island is on the left (north) of the pass, and Mayne Island is on the right.

Taken from the sundeck of the vessel, Coastal Celebration.
