My parents started the business in 1969 and they've been in the property management business since then. I remember, my dad one sunday morning, sitting there trying to design the logo for our company. And the "G" that we have, he was going over and over and over on how we did the "G". We manage townhomes and condominium associations. We also manage single family home associations, all here in Minnesota.

I feel that our biggest advantage is that we're a family based company. Many of us have been here well over twenty years. I just think really understanding the needs of the minnesota communities is a great advantage. We take great pride in using local contractors from every level. From the lawn care company, all the way to your banking institution. We have an open door policy here at Gassen Company, which means that our board of directors are invited in at any time.

Once a new client is signed on with Gassen, it's my job to get in touch with them and welcome them, and meet with the board, tour the property, and to choose a manager that works well, and that's a good fit for their specific needs. We do everything from a light bulb change to major building restorations. It's not just a commodity for us. We want to be there forever. We want to have the 20 year customer you know? That's our goal.

We've realized over the years that by taking the time to do it right the first time, we have satisfied our clients better than anyone else. The accounting reputation is paramount in the industry. I've been doing this for well over twenty years, so I've fine tuned it pretty well. I like the challenge of taking a homeowner who's not happy, and making him or her happy, you know, solving their problem.

If there's any concerns, if they have any questions about how we're doing our business, things that are happening in the state, they can come and talk to me; one of the owners of the company.

'Management done right' means taking care of our clients first. We feel that it's really important to get to know the property - and the specific issues, the demographic, the board of directors - and really get a good feel for what their needs are and who they are. 'Management done right' is where we work together as a team, and we manage it all as a big picture.

We get it fixed right the first time, and we're not looking at coming back a second and third time to do the repair. We want to do it right the first time and have you call us back for the next issue that you have.

They can have many resources within the company and it's all contained under one roof, to basically take care of any need they might have.

I've got one board member who constantly repeats back to me every time we get off the phone or I see him, he goes "Kirk, that's management done right." Which is really cool. I love to hear that.
