This month's overview summarizes FEWS NET’s most forward-looking analysis of projected emergency food assistance needs in FEWS NET coverage countries, including East Africa, West Africa, Southern Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Afghanistan. The risk of famine remains high in Nigeria, South Sudan, Somalia, and Yemen, while neutral conditions for La Nina and El Nino are favored to continue through at least the Northern Hemisphere spring.

We recently updated the 2017 food assistance needs map, and continuously provide updates on some 34 countries, all of which are available on www.fews.net.
