On October 3, 2009, 24 CFP® professionals participated in A Day of Free Financial Planning at the Oakland City Hall Building in Oakland, California. The event was organized in collaboration with CFP Board, FPA chapters of the Bay Area, California State Controller John Chiang, Senator Loni Hancock, Assembly member Sandré Swanson and Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums.
At the event, the 24 CFP® certificants volunteered to meet one-on-one with 250 consumers to offer personalized financial planning information on a pro bono basis. The event also featured spotlight presentations, including a welcome from Kevin Keller, CEO of CFP Board, and presentations by California Assembly member Sandré R. Swanson, State Senator Loni Hancock and State Controller John Chiang.
