This video was made entirely during the TEDxSheffield event on the afternoon of Tuesday the 11th June 2013.
It used a hexacopter camera platform flown by Andre Ferriera of VuAir. The camera was controlled by Simon Donnelly of VuAir, and was fed via radio relay to the audience on the main screen, so they could watch the flight.
The music was composed also during the event by Jason Sweeney of Stereopublic, he stayed up all night to do this as he was on the other side of the world in Adelaide, Australia.
The film was entirely edited at the event, and the finished video was shown to the audience at the close.
It was produced by Chris Dymond, who also carried, hand-launched and caught the hexacopter on its return from the sky.
(The message 'If at first you don't succeed..' refers to the fact that we discovered that the memory card was corrupted after the first flight and we had to do it again later, leaving us even less time to produce it.)
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
