Thousands of people are dying each year from simple infections that were once easily cured, because we’ve overused antibiotics until many have lost their effectiveness. Scientists are now searching urgently for the ingredients of new antibiotics in some remote and unusual places, from ocean reefs to frigid caves, from the slimy green fur of sloths to the saliva of Komodo dragons.
