Many people are reporting freezing problems with the Hero 3. The problem may be related to the latest firmware version which is unfortunate since the first thing a purchaser sees upon opening the package is an instruction to upgrade the firmware. After many failed attempts, I was able to load the latest firmware onto this camera. Too late a friend warned me not to upgrade the firmware. It seems the firmware update is applied in 2 stages: the first stage is the camera firmware, which seems to complete successfully most of the time, the second stage is the wifi software update, which freezes almost 100% of the time. I must have tried to update the software 25 times, and it has failed (freezes) before completion at random percentages during the second stage every time - except maybe once. The camera has operated as shown in this video since loading version 3.02. This is the version that the CEO of GoPro recently announced fixes all the problems. Wrong!!! This video demonstrates the "hard reset" method, which may unfreeze your phone long enough so it can just freeze again next time you try to make a video. If you haven't experienced it yourself, you can share my pain here!
