PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION:
On October 26, 2013, I ventured down into Indiana. The purpose of this trip was to catch Nickel Plate 765 on her return trip from Lafayette to Fort Wayne.
Logansport, Indiana was the first place that I was able to catch it. Here the big berkshire crosses the Wabash River and than crosses the Toledo, Peoria, and Western (Ex PRR) at grade.
My next stop was Peru, Indiana. On the west end of Norfolk Southern's yard we catch 765 as it rounds a sweeping curve. Right before the train gets to the camera it is crossing over US 31, which goes under the tracks at this point.
My last stop was the Wabash, Indiana. Here 765 blasts through town on a long sweeping curve.
Wabash was the last place I was able to catch 765 because the train flat-out flying. I did catch up to 765 briefly just west of the Fort Wayne area. I was going about 65mph on US 24 and I was barely pulling away from the train. He was doing all of 55 to 60.
