The Rev. Reyn Tsuru, head of Shingon Shu Hawaii, is the first local priest, wearing golden robes, to take a step of faith onto burning coals at the temple’s 100th anniversary at the Sheridan Street location last Sunday. Following him are assistant Rev. Quinn Hashimoto, in golden robes, and Jeff Keller, a former Hawaii priest who heads Shingon’s Sacramento mission.
