I made this video at the request of a viewer, and this is my piano solo adaptation of the famous Filipino kundiman 'Nasaan Ka Irog' (Donde estas, mi vida! (Where are you, my love?)). The kundiman is a traditional Filipino love song style, and the composer Nicanor Abelardo (1893-1934) is credited with raising it to art-song status. The Tagalog lyrics were by Narciso Asistio, and the most famous interpreter is probably Sylvia La Torre (1933- ), the 'Queen of Kundiman'. In my piano solo adaptation, I probably take it a little faster than a La Torre recording I heard (with orchestral backing), and in this form I think it takes on a little of the character of a (sentimentalised) Granados 'Goyesca'. I should say that this score required very little adaptation to make a piano solo, as the piano part almost always incorporates the vocal line.
