ELL students were joined by local activists and parents on April 19 for a morning protest a few feet from the front door of Burlington High School. The students feel unfairly judged by outdated tests and object to statistics that they feel correlates poverty with poor academic performance. Despite progress or promises of change in a new strategic plan for diversity, equity and inclusion, they say racism remains a real and persistent problem.
