There are a number of different Free Piston Engines invented by Robert D. Hunt available on YouTube. The animation shows how a perfect vector angle is created by the Class 3 engines that use a synchronous belt and synchronous pulley system that always maintains a perfect ninety degree vector angle for maximum transfer of power. Prior engine models used a rack and pinion gear system that also maintained a perfect vector angle all the time but was more subject to wear and had a shorter life thereby.
