This animation of the Sculptor’s Cave in NE Scotland utilises a combination of structured light and terrestrial laser scanning. The animation was produced by Rachael Kershaw using scan data collected by Dr Adrian Evans, Tom Sparrow and Rachael Kershaw, as part of collaborative research with Bradford Visualisation, School of Archaeological & Forensic Sciences, University of Bradford.
It forms part of current research being carried out by Professor Ian Armit and Dr Lindsey Büster at the University of Bradford as part of the Sculptor’s Cave Publication Project, funded by Historic Environment Scotland.
The results of the analyses will be published by the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland in 2018, and the animation will be used by Elgin Museum to present this inaccessible but important archaeological site to the wider public.
