I am currently without a tripod, so please forgive the occasional hard-hitting piano induced bouncing!

This song was written after my family returned from a trip to Japan and my Dad told me the vintage scene was huge in Tokyo and I would fit in there perfectly. With a heavy helping of Doris Day's 'Shanghai' for inspiration (I love that song!)
If you're in Tokyo or have been and have photos of the vintage/ pin up/ rockabilly scene there, PLEASE post them to my page (http://www.facebook.com/ilanacharnelle) or my website (http://ilanacharnelle.tumblr.com), I'd love to see them!

Tokyo (c) Ilana Charnelle 2012
What do you do with a suitcase
Empty purse and a swelling heart
Standing at the crowded gate
Ready for my next story to start
I've had enough of the quiet life
Empty streets and homes
I want to go out somewhere
Where I feel less alone

I think I'll go
To Tokyo
Give me sounds and lights
To make me feel alright
Dressed to the nines
I'll fit in fine
Yes I think I'll go to Tokyo tonight

What do you do when suddenly
Your home don't cut it no more
I used to love this place
But now I've got the itch to explore
I've had enough of the quiet life
Give me crowds in rows and rows
I want to go out somewhere
Where they feel the same I know
