Dance of the Flying Machines in the ETH Zurich Flying Machine Arena.

In this work, the music is analyzed ahead of time in order to obtain a description of the music's structure. The pre-extracted music beat is chosen as the basic unit of the music structure and serves as a reference for rhythmic movements. Trajectories are pre-designed and parameterized, providing a flexible and customizable library of motion primitives. Then, these basic elements are concatenated and assigned to different music sections by the user, using the underlying music description to guide the choreography design. This process is done with the help of a customized software tool. To complement the design process, we also developed a numerical test that assesses the feasibility of desired trajectories.
