An early goal by Tom Greaves set United on track to a seven-point lead at the top of the division. After rounding the keeper Greaves slotted in the opener and that settled FC to hold Whitby to long-range efforts, before he was brought down in the area for Jerome Wright to convert from the spot. Just before the break Liam Brownhill sent in another dangerous cross which the Seasiders failed to clear, but one that Greg Daniels pounced on from close in to make it 3-0. After the restart neither team had many opportunities to score and it took until the last minute before Rory Fallon got the ball in the opposing half and raced into the box. After tangling with a defender Fallon was quickest up, he side-footed a pin-point shot in the corner. Callum Byrne nearly made it five in extra time with a 20-yarder that crashed off the underside of the bar, but it stayed at four to keep the majority of the 810 supporters happy in the chase for automatic p********.
