This is the much-anticipated tool-assisted speedrun of the ninth installment in the Final Fantasy series. It's the last game in the series to be made for the PSX and pushes the hardware to the limits.
A lot of planning went into the creation of this run. The author's commentary is very useful to help you see what's going on at times, particularly when buying things at a store or changing equipment, and it helps alleviate boredom during the lengthy story-only segments that aren't very easily readable due to fast text skipping.
The traditional speed challenge in FFIX is the Excalibur II quest: getting to the end of the game in under 12 hours rewards you with the most powerful weapon. This run beats the challenge easily with more than 4 hours and 40 minutes of spare time, without doing any FMV skips.
Because of emulation errors, some parts of the run have incorrect background sound effects. The framerate has been reduced from 60fps down to 30fps through the use of blending. If you want a 60fps video, download the MKV from the website.
