In 2009, Cleveland Medical Devices (CleveMed) was on the verge of commercialising an important new biomedical product: the SleepView Monitor device to diagnose sleep apnea. The concept was proven and ready to commercialize. However, the fact that the device was to be used in a home setting by patients, meant its physical design needed to be extremely rugged and user friendly.
