FL Studio Tutorial: Altering a loop bassline. No cutting/pasting [hip-hop beat]

An easy way to alter/edit or experiment with the bassline of an existing sample is to use the Gross Beat VST that comes with Fruity Loops Studio 9. There are probably other good effects that can do this(e.g. DGlitch) but I'm using this one because it's very easy to use.

Just filter out all the highs of the sample and boost the lows (and of course fit it to tempo to make it loop smoothly). Play around with the Gross Beat effect until you get the desired result.

Pitch shift it to give the bass more definition (if too muddy). Trust your ears :)
