Jodrell Bank Live is where music meets science under the shadow of the Lovell Telescope, the third largest steerable radio telescope in the world.

On July 2nd 2011 Transmission 001 launched the first of many events at the Scientific site.
A day of talks and exploration of pulsars via the satellite was followed by cosmic satge shows by THE FLAMING LIPS, BRITISH SEA POWER & OKGO. Culminating in transforming the 270ft wide telescope into a projection screen featuring choreographed imagery of space..........

The Independent:
"We really are in the greatest place on the planet" ****

"Tranmission 001 is already something to remember for summers to come."

Wayne Coyne, The Flaming Lips:
"To stand here in the symbolic shadow of this great achievement I think is the best place to be on planet earth right now, tonight, right here. This is going to be like the greatest show there could ever be!""

Yan Hamilton, British Sea Power:
"How many rock gigs have a 2,500 tonne radio telescope aimed at the stage?"

"A performance that everyone who was there will never forget, and everyone who wasn't will never hear the end of."
