This is a short introduction how to reverse engineer a (simple) USB protocol for Linux. Example source code is here:

In the video I used Windows 7 in the virtual machine KVM. To see how to install the virtual machine check my other Youtube video ?v=xwHmdAWkbx4.

Wireshark is quiet comfortable these days.

Command line in the video is:
sudo setcap 'CAP_NET_RAW+eip CAP_NET_ADMIN+eip CAP_DAC_OVERRIDE+eip' /usr/bin/dumpcap

You can also use:
sudo wireshark
