Komathy is inconsolable when she related how all her four children were asking for new clothes for Deepavali. She was helpless as she is now earning a mere RM400 from her job as cleaner in a bank. The younger ones were unable to understand why the mother can't buy them clothes, foods and fireworks like they used to have during previous Deepavali celebrations.

"I was so full of gratitude when I get the RM100. I know to many people, the RM100 is a small sum. But to me, it means I can cheer my children a bit after what they had gone through. That's why I was so happy and fell on my knees," Komathy related.

Komathy's brother Gunasekaran, 34 explained to Buletin Mutiara's team, "My sister called me very excitedly that she received RM100 from some 'orang besar' and she can buys new clothes for Mathi. She doesn't know who he is and couldn't tell me the name. We only saw the news in the papers the next day and realised she met Tuan Lim Guan Eng."

Mathi took out the set of new clothes and proudly showed them to Buletin Mutiara. His older siblings didn't get a set though because the balance money was used to buy essential foods to fill their stomachs.

Komathy bravely said she will continue to carry on working while sending her children to school. The three older children age 12, 11 and 9 years old take the public bus to their Tamil school in Gelugor and often go hungry as they can't afford pocket money for their meals in school.

On 31st October 2011, after hearing the plight of Komathy and her four young children, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has extended some financial help to her. At the same time, CM Lim also urged members of the HIndu Endowment Board to help Komathy in anyway they can as she needs financial support for her children.

The simple ceremony to hand over the financial assistance to Komathy was held at the Penang State Assembly where Deputy Chief Minister II Prof P. Ramasamy was also present with Penang State Exco YB Chow Kon Yeow, State Assemblymen YB RSN Rayer and YB Thanasegaran
