Gene W. Kelly, author of “The College Myth”, went from a C+ student in high school to a first-generation “millionaire next door” by learning several specific trade skills that he leveraged into a series of well-paying jobs and business investments. Now, he is the founder and CEO of several companies, including the Accelerated Technical Training Institute. Gene is also a winery owner in Napa Valley.

Gene claims that for many college graduates the promise of a four year education providing a good paying job is no longer viable. He shows how college debt is negatively impacting far too many graduates’ lives. College graduates stuck in low-paying jobs, with large loan payments are:
• delaying getting married and starting a family
• not buying a first house or car
• unable to get credit cards

However, at the same, time over 350,000 good paying trade jobs are going unfilled due to lack of qualified, skilled candidates. Gene contends that many students should not go to college but should choose to become a highly skilled trade’s worker without the heavy burden of college debt.
