Great video! Youtube is the first place to look when you have a subtle engine problem. It saves hours of messing around, and reading manuals. I remember the pre-youtube days, when you just had to drive the car as-is for a year or two, until the problem got bad enough to figure out. Your video is a great example of how to do a good video to help other people. Thanks for the help!

To everyone with this problem. Check the cylinder head temp sensor if you take off the alternates it will be on the right. Easy to see it's a 3/4. Mine was broke off but still hooked up. Corroded!! Easy fix.

I have a "99 F250 SD 5.4. We started to have these high accelerator problems recently. We replace the ICV, ERG sensors, all would fix the problem for short term. But today with a cold crank start in -12 degree weather, she started with a 2000rpm idle and wouldn't come down, instead it kept going up to 2800 rpm, got scared and shut her off. Let her sit for a bit and went out and started her again and this time she went up to 2800rpm and continued to climb. Got the computer on there to see what that said... everything is reading honky dory. Came on here and found this trick. Tried and it worked! Let her run like that for 30 minutes and stayed at 1100rpm. Shut her off and started her again, and she idled normal. I guess the old girl was just cold and some stuff just got froze. We will have to see what she does tomorrow, but I have a trick now to help her out. Thanks!

so I'm helping a friend with a 04 f250 5.4 and its idling high. pinched the hose and it worked like on the video. there were also people suggesting unplugging the power from the valve but when this happens the truck dies. they didn't have this happen. don't want to throw money at it if it won't help.

Its your idle air control valve. It happened on my 4.6. It would howl like youre blowing over a bottle when it was idling. Replaced my IAC and hasnt happened since.
