Addressing the press conference today Mr Sunil Dimple president Jammu West Assembly Movement has "strongly Opposed" the holding of the Jammu municipal corporation election for the " TIME BEING". As the ground work for holding the free and fair and fruit full JMC elections has not been done.
Talking to the media persons Sunil Dimple said that we have sent faxed and Submitted "Memorandum" for not holding of the election to the Chief minister Omar Abdulla, the Chief election Commissioner B R Sharma and the Jammu and Kashmir Govt. In the memorandum we have opposed and appealed to take the seriously our demands, in the memorandum other wise we will start the " JAN ANDOLN" To oppose the JMC elections. other He alleged the Govt by holding fake election in hurry wants too get corers of rupees funds for multi corers scandals which we will not allow to happen. So no JMC Elections should be held in the hurry.
The demands and the text of the demands are as under:
Memorandum submitted to Omar Abdullah hon'ble chief minister jammu and kashmir state, by shri Sunil Dimple president jammu west assembly movement.
Sunil demanded the chief minister Jenab Omar Abdullah Sahib, is requested not to hold municipal corporations elections for the Jammu municipal cooperation till all the old and new voter lists are corrected, and updated as there irregulatries and lacks of the voters have not been inroled in the Voter lists, not received voter cards, ID Numbers, photo ID Cards Have not been issued and (ii )No Proper delimitation and "rotation of the wards" have been done, and no proper survey of the wards conducted with proper survey of the communities residing in the wards falling under jammu municipal cooperation.
In 2005, haft hazard municipal cooperation's elections were conducted without any proper survey, criteria of reservation of wards which now needed to be rectified and corrected due to which the winter capital jammu could not develop.
No municipal cooperation ward should be reserved by the govt. So that the candidates of all gender, male, female and communities could contest the elections. The govt. should not reserve and impose barriers for the candidates from contesting the elections which is their democratic right.
Due to wrong policies, irregularities, in the 2005 elections which resulted, that no proper development of the winter capital Jammu could take place which now needs to be corrected and amended in the interest of people.
It is a matter of great concern that in the Jammu west constituency there are 26 wards out of which 13 are reserved the reservation in the constituency is 50% which is an injustice which indicates irregularity in the reservation policy and delimitation.
Dimple demanded the immediate bifurcation of Jammu west assembly constituency into two 2, assembly segments. As it is the largest constituency of the state with 2 Lakh voters, 8 lacs population with 26 municipal corporation wards. Which is an great discrimination with people of the Jammu west constituency.
Sunil Dimple demanded the "District status" should be granted to the Jammu west constituency keeping in view the population, voters and areas of the constituency.
Sunil Dimple demanded the chief minister Omar Abdulla to take immediate steps and intervening the matter. And appealed "not hold the Jammu Municipal Corporation" election till all the grievances resolved.
